Frits van Huismaatje
Founder of Huismaatje and writer of the articles on this site.
Why Huismaatje exists
When Frits came back from Yemen, he started something many people in the Netherlands know all too well: looking for a room. He searched for eight months, partly in scattered social media groups, without success.
So he took matters into his own hands. Together with two friends he built Huismaatje: the first free housemate platform focused on hospita rentals, where people rent out a room in their own home. Every room rented out that way is one more place to live, without a single new house being built.
For people looking for a room, Huismaatje is free, and it will stay that way.
What Frits writes about
On the blog, Frits writes about finding a room, renting out a room as a hospita, tenant law and living with housemates. For room seekers lost in a tight market, and for people with a spare room who want to know how renting it out works.
