Oud-West is the neighborhood of transformation. Bilderdijkstraat 20 years ago was barbers and Turkish bakers. Now it's specialty-coffee spots between Moroccan butchers, and the Foodhallen converted from a tram depot in 2014 became the gravity center. The remarkable thing is the transformation didn't finish: on the same street, the Turkish supermarket still sells €1 flatbreads alongside a specialty bakery selling €3.50 croissants.
